Ten years ago for our first Christmas together, we bought what we call our “Chubby Little People Nativity.“ Undoubtedly nothing like the real nativity which was likely drafty, stinky, and noisy. Do things run through your mind like: How long was the labor? Was Joseph the only one there for the birth? How much did Jesus weigh? Did He sleep through the night? I could go on and on, but I remind myself that none of these matter. The Word clearly shows that Jesus is what matters. He is the focus. Cute nativities are great reminders, but Jesus is More and Greatest (as Mye would say)!

We are well. We are enjoying going through this advent season with the girls reading daily Bible verses and putting corresponding ornaments on a Jesse tree.

Lay is enjoying teaching the girls at home. Sey is five and is in kindergarten. She really enjoys her schoolwork, especially math. Mye is three. She insists on her own schoolwork, too. She loves writing and cutting.

May continues to work at the jail as well as heads up a group called CORE (Community OutReach Evangelism) in which he organizes door to door witnessing, street preaching, and parade events.

This morning Mye woke up happy and played pretty well. She did continue to battle a fever throughout the day so we did our tylenol/Ibu alternations regularly. This evening she really started feeling ill. Refused dinner. Complained of sore throat. Whiny. We decided to take her in to urgent care. The doc said her right ear was slightly red so she ordered an antibiotic. The girls and I waited in the car while May went to get the med at the pharmacy. Mye fell asleep on me. Probably not a good idea. My body heat warmed her too much. I could not resist trying to comfort her in her misery though. Finally May came to the car and buckled Mye back in her seat. She started seizing. Ugh! He unbuckled her, put her in the passenger seat, and I gave her the rescue med. This time it lasted 2 min. It was 7:30. I sat in the back with the girls on the way home. When we made it home Mye was able to take Ibu/antibiotic/seizure med/yogurt/water. She then fell asleep and has not moved since! I think tonight we will get a little more sleep. Sey is a little trooper. Quite helpful. I am so glad May has been here for both of these. Thank you for your prayers.

Sitting on the couch by a sleeping beauty right now.
We had a wonderfully full day of church and then fun at Moogie and Gumpy's house.
Sunday night we kind of had a rough night though.
Mye had a seizure.
We put the girls to bed at nine. Around 10:50pm I heard Mye say something so I went to check on her. She would respond to me, but she was groggy and a little twitchy. I knew something was not right so I went to get the tympanic thermometer. Temp 102.2. Oh, boy! I stripped her and grabbed the rectal thermometer to get a more accurate temp. As her temp was measuring, she went in to a grand mal. May ran to get her rescue medication called diastat, and I gave it to her. The seizure lasted only about 3 min. Thank the Lord!
She was so tired. I let her sleep for 20 minutes then coaxed her into taking some Ibu. We let her sleep again until midnight then I gave her some Tylenol. She continued to be out of it not saying anything that made since. At 12:15am Mye opened her eyes and started singing loudly and making the motions,"If your happy and you know it clap your hands (clap clap) If your happy and you know it say amen (AMEN!)" Totally wild timing, but totally awesome! We totally cracked up! God has an unexpected way of comforting us sometimes. It was also a cool illustration of rejoicing in the midst of trials. ;)
A few min later she was back to wailing and saying nonsense and pinching me. After awhile she calmed down and got back to saying a few more random stuff: "Can I watch Halo Babies when Daddy comes home?" (Daddy was right there.) "He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name sake." (That one kind of worried me since it was psalm 23 ;) "I don't want the burger." (There was no food anywhere)"The grey stuff is pig."(She usually says that when she eats sausage) "Remember the sabbath day and keep it Holy." What surprised me the most was that even though she was out of it. She was quoting scripture. Let me encourage you to keep on telling those kiddos about Jesus. It IS getting into them and comes out, even when they are vulnerable. God Is So Good!

May was happy that we went with him up to Portland to see him street preach at the Saturday market. May did great, and the girls were amazingly cooperative.

Peace and Joy

I love this picture of Sey. I long for the feeling expressed.
I pray she has many moments of pure joy and peace throughout her homeschool adventure and life!
I thought surely Jesus would come before we had to begin our children's formal education.
(My way of trying to get out of curriculum decision making, I believe.) I suppose kindergarten is not quite formal, but close enough.

Today was Sey's first day of kindergarten.
Daddy was home to participate.
We started off giving Sey's little frog freedom.
We then zoomed right along through Little Hearts for His Glory unit 1, day 1.
Quite painless.
God is good.
To Him be the glory!

At the end of the day Sey said, "I liked it!"

I do believe, she did. ;)

Our School name is

In John 14:6 Jesus says,

Hope everyone had a happy 4th of July!

We kind of had an unexpectedly weird one, but I am so thankful God is in charge.

Mason and some friends went to Ashland this morning to march in a parade holding gospel banners. Tracts were handed out, and Andy(a friend from Coquille) did street preaching in front of tons of people. Right when Mason parked is car down there this morning his car died... He tried to limp it home at the end of their busy day, but it died half an hour away from home. One of Mason's friends blessed us by towing it to our mechanic. I praise God that Mason and Jim who carpooled together are fine through all their adventures.

On the home front Mye had a seizure. I heard her wake up from her nap, and I went in her room to get her. She smiled at me, and it melt my heart. I picked her up, laughed, and held her as I danced with her into the living room. I spinned her around one time. She immediately stiffened and went into a seizure. It was 2:50pm. I laid her on the floor. Grabbed her diastat and injected 5mg at 2:51. Thankfully, at 2:53 her seizure stopped. Her thermostat sure is wacky. Took her temp after the seizure and it was 101 and even went over 102. Drives me nuts. She has no other sign of illness. You never know.

Curious to see how she will be tomorrow. Pray with me that she will grow out of these and have no more, ever. ;)

No fireworks for us tonight. We have had enough excitement. :)

I like to put on here whenever the girls have a seizure, and Mye's last one was May 19. This is just a copy of what I wrote on her seizure tracker on May 19. It is encouraging to me that the seizure did not happen until her temp was really high. She has not had a seizure for almost a month now. She has been doing well~ornery, but well. ;)

Possible Triggers: Irregular sleep; Fever; Sick - complained of sore mouth

Notes: Had 100 degree temp evening before. Not eating as much.

Description: Change in awareness; Loss of urine or bowel control; Loss of ability to communicate; Automatic repeated movements; Muscle stiffness in whole body; Muscle twitch in whole body;

Notes: I heard her moaning/crying at 3:30am. Found Mye lying in fetal postition, moaning and shaking. Took her temp: 103.5, rectally. Attempted to bring temp down by removing PJs and applying cool cloth to head. She then went into a grand mal type seizure. I grabbed the diastat and injected syringes at 3:33am. Half way through the second syringe she came out of the seizure. I gave her the whole dose anyway(5mg total).

Post Event: Unable to communicate; Muscle weakness; Sleepy; Severe startle reflex

Notes: Lying very still. Breath faint. Slight blood in drool. Possibly bit tongue. Continued with cooling measures. Had a severe startle reflex in which she grabbed at anything and everything with a vise like grip every time she was moved. She would also jerk her whole body whenever moved or touched. Awake enough by 3:50 to take some Ibu, By 7am Temp 98.9, rectally. Took her into urgent care around 10:30 after she was rested up. Ear Infection. Put on zithromax

Here are just a few pictures of our 2 week long trip the beginning of May. So hard to decide which ones to put. Ry and Shae lead us all the way to their home at the Tres Cruces base in Mexico where we were able to stay for 5 beautiful days while May taught Evangelism at the school there. The kids had fun together playing in mud, dancing, swimming, eating...

Below is just a mini snapshot of what has been going on the past few months.
The girls had some ear infections, but now they are quite healthy. :)
Mye has had no further seizure since the last one I posted. After that seizure her doctor changed her medication to Keppra. Ugh. Reading the side effects makes me ill... We slowly titrated the medication up. So far so good. Next week we start titrating the Trileptal down.

Mye with Mini~Mye at nap time today

On March 15 when we saw Mye's neuro doc he increased her Trileptal to 6ml twice a day. This may be the highest he can go for her size. She will have some blood work next week to check her levels. We may have to switch meds again if she continues to have seizures.

Mye did have a seizure Wednesday morning. She was coloring at the table in the computer room. She fell back onto the chalk board easel which broke her fall. Praise God! The seizure lasted under 2 min so she did not need the rescue medication. YAY! Her seizures have been shorter than they have been in the past. Possibly because of her daily med? I don't know... I am thankful though. Mye has had a runny nose since Monday so I have been checking her temp each evening. Monday night it was 100.1, rectal.. I kept a close eye on her all night and all day Tuesday. Tuesday night temp was 99.9. After her seizure on Wed her temp was 99.4. Quite confusing... Weird how a little sickness can lower her seizure threshold.

Thank you so much for your prayers. Please continue to pray with us that she will have no further seizures. She is back to her normal self tonight. Not even a runny nose. YaY!

Some may not know, but Mye had a trauma induced seizure on Thursday. She was on my knees when I dropped her, hitting the back of her head on the carpet causing a 2 min grand mal seizure. ( I feel like a worm.) When she was still in her post ictal state, groggy and limp, she kept laughing and saying "Me Gusta" (We had been watching Speekee earlier) and refused to speak in English. That really weirded me out. Then she bit me in the arm HARD. Wow! I did not expect that. She never bites. Brain stuff is really weird.

The next day, Friday, Myelle had an MRI with anesthesia. We were at the hospital at 8:30. They were so behind that they did not get her in until noon. She was a trooper. Took the gas like a pro. We were out of the hospital after 3pm, ate lunch, and went to the mall. The girls and I were in the toy department at Target when Myelle had a seizure. I think, we traumatized a poor little girl who was in the isle with us. I attempted to explain it to her and Sey as I grabbed Mye out of the cart, placed her on the floor, grabbed her rescue meds, and called May. This seizure lasted only around 2 min. Mason came, and we started on our way out of the store. She was so limp and sooo out of it. Sey, Mye, and I waited at the front while Mason ran to the other side of the mall to get the car. When he got to the car he realized he did not have the keys so he had to come back and get them. Well, Mye had another seizure so I ran her to the bathroom. This seizure was a short one, too. Temp was 102.2, rectal. We finally got to the car where I coaxed her to take some Tylenol. We started to drive home. Well, before we got very far she had another seizure. Thankfully, this one was short, too. We decided we better take her back to the hosp in case she was having a reaction to the anesthesia or something. We had over an hour long drive to get home, and I did not want to face driving home stopping for seizures every 10 min. She ended up having no further seizures. We think maybe her seizure threshold was lowered even more than usual by the anesthesia. They gave her valium at the hospital, and I gave her some Saturday morning and Saturday night to rest her brain. She has had no further seizures and is not ill and her MRI is fine. Praise God! We even went to church on Sunday as well as cousin K's super birthday party on Sunday! We laid low today. She had a nice nap. She is her usual Mye Smile.

I have not posted anything for a while because I have been kind of busy. Right after Christmas I decided to repaint the computer room. My house became a disaster. The room is now painted "green energy" (more like mountain dew bottle color ;) and everything is moved back in.Yay! It is much better than it was. It is ready for kindergarten!

One thing I have been struggling with is uncertainty and anxiousness.

Myelle had two seizures on Dec 5, an over an hour long one on Dec 29 (had to stay in the hospital overnight, and she was put on phenobarbital), one on Feb 2, and one yesterday morning which I have no idea how long it was because I found her in her post ictal state at 6:20am. Two of them were non-fever, non-sickness related. Many are focal (affect only one part of her body). Ugh.

She saw a neurologist on Jan 18. He put her on trileptal and took her off the phenobarb. He increased her dose yesterday. She has had an EEG done. We have not heard the results yet. She was going to have an MRI today, but she had a temp of 100.1 rectally yesterday and when the anesthesiologist heard that he did not want to do the MRI. It was rescheduled.

I never know when I may hear Mye flop on the ground~

I do know that God knows what is going on. He is watching over Mye!

Wow, I can't believe it is here! The girls are all snug in the PJ's their Aunt Rhiannon sent and are safely snuggled in their beds.
Mye had two febrile seizures yesterday, but is doing well. She is coming down with a cold, I believe.
Sey was unable to sing in the Christmas program due to a cold, but we had a wonderful time with my Aunt Dum and my two pretty cool cousins on Christmas Eve.

Another year has come and gone.

Wonderful things have happened: Family marriages and births. Selah has had no further seizures, and Myelle has only had three seizures.

Sad things have happened: Friends have passed away... Family members have illness and pain...

How is my attitude? Sadly, it is ugly all too often. As our little Selah was heartbroken and sobbing tonight as she thought of Jesus dying on that cross, we need to remember that our sins put Him there, but He did not stay. He is alive. He is waiting for us. Let us come to Him daily.

One convicting quote I heard Leonard Ravenhill quote on a YouTube video called “Selah” has stuck with me. The author is unknown. “Only one life,'twill soon be past, only what's done for God will last. And when I am dying, how glad I shall be, if the lamp of my life has been burned out for Thee.” Isn’t that convicting as well as encouraging? May we burn out our lamps for Jesus. He is the one we need to live for. He is the only one to live for.

Each year we do a Jesse Tree to remind us each day of December of Jesus.

Lots of cousins got together at Moogie and Gumpy's house for a sleep over.

We did not stay for that, but did go to visit and make chocolate gingerbread cookies.

It was fun getting to visit with T and A who we have not seen for months since they now live in Mexico.

All the kiddos are getting so big and are they FUN!

Our kind neighbors GAVE us this swingset! WOW!

They are moving, and found out at the last minute that the set had to go. Mrs. J said that if we could move it for them, we could have it. May had to go out at night in the pouring rain to disconnect it and get it up the hill. Kind of worth it though. ;) We put it up today. May replaced a few 2x4s. We may need to epoxy the slide in one area. I was able to stain most of the wood this evening. The vinyl top does need replacing.

Mye is doing well. The girls helped me mix egg whites for waffles this morning! We decided to stay home from church because Mye had a fever last night. She has had no further seizures though. She occasionally complains of an earache and has a cough, but she is back to her old self otherwise. :)

Tonight we visited Bri at the ER...
So good to see Bri!...
But...
ER not a good thing...

Mye went down for a nap around 1:30pm. Around 3pm she wailed and yelled, "I don't want my ear to hurt anymore!" Temp. 99.9. The past week she has had a cough and runny nose so I figured she had an ear infection and took her to Urgent Care where she was put on amoxacillin. She had her first dose around 6:15pm and some more Tylenol around 7pm. Her temp was 99.9 again.

The girls went to bed around 9pm. I finished sewing the final curtain for the RV while May watched a John Piper video. I went down to the RV to hang it up and came back up to the house. I sat down at the computer to respond to a facebook post when I heard this strange repeating whistle/wheeze. Rushing into the girls room I found Myelle on her side(Thank God!), limp, wheezing, and breath rattling. I reached for her face and found she had vomited. She was unresponsive. I scooped her up and rushed her to the couch where May was. We cleaned her face and tried to suction out the phlem. After 5 min of her just lying there unresponsive, wheezing, and rattling, we decided to take her to the hospital. We figured that she had had a seizure and was now in the post ictal period. We had no idea how long the seizure lasted. I was worried that she aspirated some of the vomit. I sat in the back with her holding her head while May drove. Sey was kind of dazed. She was awesome though. She never complained, and we never had an issue with her while we were dealing with Mye.

Brianna greeted us(It was so comforting to see her), and we were taken to a room. Pulse ox 84. Mye was put on O2. MD suctioned out some more stuff from her nose. Temp 99 something. It took her 30 min from the time I found her for her to start moving. It took her an hour to finally say Mama. She became very agitated then. She had a chest x-ray taken, and it was fine. Yay! Relief. We were able to go home. Poor little thing is so tired. We are sleeping in the living room together tonight. I do not want her out of my sight.

It is interesting that this verse has been on my mind this week:
"Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes."
Matthew 6:33-34
He does! I worry so much about THINGS. It is not worth it. God is in control WHATEVER happens.
I have no idea what will happen tomorrow, but God has me. He is ENOUGH.
"Delight yourselves in the Lord, yes, find your joy in Him at all times." Philippians 4:4

Please pray with us that Mye and Sey have no further seizures. This is Mye's fourth. Her last one was in March of this year. Selah has had 7, I believe. Her last one was July 29, 09

I stepped in a pothole, twisted my ankle, threw my camera HARD on to the ground, and fell. I immediately reached for my camera sooo upset with myself for ruining it! The girls saw me fall, and Mye was especially distressed. This is the pic I took to see if it was still working as I was still on the ground. My camera works just fine! This is not the first disaster my camera has lived through. Around 3 months ago I burned it on the stove! Dad was able to rescue it by melting the battery cover so that I can open it now.

Wow, even in my stupidity God has been so gracious to me.

Oh, and my ankle is getting better, too. ;)

We have been busy this summer remodeling an old RV.

We did take a two day break to camp in a tent at the coast.

Who would have thought it would mist so hard it seemed like rain? In August?

Didn't see much ocean, but we had fun anyway!

The girls loved the tent, cocoa, and park,

but their favorite part was the smores, of course!

We went to WS a few weeks ago.Took a "walk walk walk" as Mye would say.

Baby girl is 18 mo.

Last Saturday Mye had her third seizure this time in the bathtub! Good thing I was expecting it and was holding her. It only lasted 3 min because this time I knew right were her rescue med was and it worked immediately. The seizure was definitely fever related. She ended up with an ear infection. Both eyes were really goopy, swollen and even bruised as you can see in the St. Patrick's Day pic.

The top picture is what my baby's cheeks have looked like for a long time. They are even redder than that picture most of the time, and the dots are always there. Well, I took some drastic measures last week and took her off of dairy and eggs. Look what happened after only one week! She still has some redness and a couple dots, but I praise the Lord it does look better.
